The vertical roller mill is a grinding equipment that has both the functions of crushing and grinding, and uses the material to be ground to work as a medium. First, the vertical mill is compared to the grinding media of the ball mill. The vertical self-grinding machine, as the name suggests, is a medium-free grinding machine that does not require steel balls, steel bars, etc. The material to be crushed is itself a crushing medium. This can effectively reduce the iron pollution of the finished product. In addition, the material particles collide with each other to prevent excessive pulverization. The ball mill relies on the steel ball medium to participate in the grinding, so the product will be more muddy and suitable for the production of powdery products.

Secondly, the vertical mill is compared with the feed section of the ball mill. The feeding parts of the vertical mill and the ball mill adopt a trolley-type welding chute structure with a wear-resistant lining. Since the feed material does not contain the grinding medium, the wear and impact on the apparatus body are relatively small, and the feed point of the feed section chute is away from the side of the mill cylinder. The ball mill feed contains grinding media, and the wear and impact on the equipment body are relatively large. In order to effectively reduce the impact of the material on the feed bushing, the feed point of the feed chute must be as close as possible to the mill cylinder. On the side, and because of the larger particle size of the ball mill, the feed chute must have a large slope and height for smooth feeding.

Then, the difference between the vertical mill and the ball mill is analyzed from the aspects of structure and installation. The GRM vertical grinding structure is simple, adopts vertical vertical installation, small floor space, simple foundation construction, convenient installation and short time. The structure of the ball mill is more complicated, and the horizontal horizontal installation is adopted, the installation technology is difficult, the foundation is required to be high, the cycle is long, and the floor space is large. Both can be arranged in the open air, but in general, the construction area of the vertical mill is 70% of the ball mill, the building space is 50%-60% of the ball mill, and the investment cost is low.

In addition, the process flow of the two is also different. The vertical mill integrates crushing, drying, grinding and grading and conveying. Compared with the ball mill, the vertical grinding process is simple, and the capital investment is small, which can save one dryer for the mill system. In addition, the vertical mill has a separator, which uses hot flue gas to transport materials. It does not need a powder separator and a hoist. The dust-containing gas is directly collected into the collector, so the vertical mill system has simple process, low failure rate and high operation rate. The layout is compact. In general, the finished product of the same fineness adopts the vertical grinding process. After two stages of grinding, the fineness of the product can meet the requirements. The traditional ball mill process requires three stages of grinding.
